Lori has a long history in health care in BC.  First as a Registered Nurse since 1983, working with families and children at BC Children’s Hospital, and also teaching nursing students.  Then in 2007 becoming a Registered Midwife working with families in Richmond, first as a solo midwife, then in a partnership with Sara Povey since 2010. A life long learner, Lori is always looking for ways to improve practice and meet the needs of clients.  In 2014, she completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree which focused on improving the diagnosis of labour and supporting women in early labour.  In 2015, she was the first midwife asked to participate in the Physician Leadership Program through the UBC Sauder School of Business. Today she is an Adjunct Professor with the UBC School of Nursing.  She has two adult sons who are the light of her life and keep her grounded.  She loves travelling, shoes, watching home improvement shows, animals, kids, families and most of all caring for her clients and can’t wait to be a grandmother herself.

Sara has been a registered midwife in BC since 2009. She trained in 1998 and worked in the UK prior to returning home to Canada. Throughout England and Wales she practiced as a midwife in hospitals, community clinics and a birth centre. Sara is the eldest of four siblings and remembers her mother as always being either pregnant or breastfeeding during her childhood so she naturally chose to become a midwife.Lori and Sara set up a Richmond practice in 2010 bringing their decades of experiences together to create Blossom Birth Program. She has one son who, in her spare time, she shuttles around to his various sports activities. They like to travel, bike ride and spend time with family. Sara’s most recent enterprise is learning acupuncture for pain relief in labour. She uses acupressure points for various pregnancy and birth related issues to comfort and  benefit their clients.

Esther Aneke is the pioneer of Midwifery Services in Richmond and surrounding areas. She continues to provide memorable care to the childbearing families in this areas. She obtained her Hospital Privilege at Richmond hospital in 2004 and supported the expansion of midwifery service by supporting fellow Registered midwives who set up midwifery practices in South Delta and Lulu Island. As a retired nurse educator, she continues to provide the childbearing families with memorable birth experiences to keep her dedication to this amazing midwifery profession. It has been a great honor to know the wonderful families she worked with since 2004. She looks forward to supporting many more families.
